Portret Lord Byron siert muur in de wijk Psyrri in Athene
Cacao Rocks is een van de elf kunstenaars die inging op de uitnodiging om een muurschildering te maken op basis van een kunstwerk uit de collectie van de Parnassos Philological Association.
Hij koos voor de buste die Giorgios Vitalis in 1888 van Lord Byron maakte.
Cacao Rocks voltooide zijn muurschildering op een gebouw in de wijk Psyrri in Athene in december 2021. De kunstenaar was altijd al een bewonderaar van Lord Byron. De muurschildering is gebaseerd op een schilderij dat Cacao Rocks in 2019 maakte naar de buste van Byron van Vitalis.
Over zijn bewondering voor Lord Byron en de totstandkoming van dit werk zegt Cacoa Rocks onder andere dit:
‘From the school years I was fascinated by the character of Lord Byron. Imagine for a second you were transposed into the karmic driven world of Earl. A similar figure in the 20th century could be the revolutionary Che Guevara, in a different context’

‘I started thinking about this, to do my work in the studio. I used the style reminiscent of the painting of the modernists of the last century and putting on the second level the lines that make the documentary part of the composition, changing color depending on the background […]’.
